The Brief

The American Kidney Fund, a leading nonprofit dedicated to enlightening the public about the many variations of kidney disease, relevant genetic predispositions, promoting testing, and supporting patients, aimed to raise awareness and increase donations on its annual National AMKD Day. The date was already established by AKF via its own web and social channels, so it sought to add credibility by further amplifying its digital presence. They turned to NationalToday.com; the leading holiday site to amplify their own marketing efforts and social tactics.

The Execution

We developed a comprehensive holiday marketing campaign centered around National AMKD Awareness Day. The campaign included a series of educational materials, patient stories, and infographics aimed at raising awareness about kidney disease prevention and the importance of early detection. These assets were distributed across social media, email newsletters, and the American Kidney Fund website.

To drive engagement, we launched a social media challenge encouraging participants to share their stories or wear a specific color symbolizing kidney health, using the hashtag #AKFAwarenessDay. Influencers, patient advocates, and healthcare professionals were invited to participate, amplifying the message and encouraging their followers to get involved. We timed the campaign to coincide with the holiday season, when charitable giving is top of mind. Special donation drives were launched, encouraging people to give in honor of loved ones affected by kidney disease. All materials emphasized the importance of supporting AKF’s mission to help patients and fund research for kidney disease prevention.

The Result

The campaign garnered a 25% increase in donations compared to the previous year, with a marked rise in new donors supporting AKF’s mission.
