The last 12 months have been tough, leaving many of us seeking extra comfort wherever we can find it. It seems that for many Americans, that comfort can be found in tacos, with our overall consumption of the Mexican treat going up by 12.8% since the start of the pandemic.
Results from our study show that 42% of us eat between four and 12 tacos per month, with 5% of us enjoying 64 or more on a monthly basis. This increase in consumption comes despite the fact that 23% of Americans don’t eat tacos at all.
America's Favourite Taco Restaurant
Taco Bell has been crowned America’s favorite taco restaurant during the pandemic. We analyzed the year-on-year change in visits to determine the taco restaurant of choice in each state. Taco Bell was the overwhelming victor, winning the popularity contest across 22 states, with Del Taco claiming the top spot in eight states and Moe’s in seven.
